Hey Everyone,
I’m going to keep this a bit short because the stomach virus I had 3 weeks ago has put me into a bit of a flare up. I’m not as bad as I’ve been in the past, but I’ve been a bit slow to recover.
Two years ago, today, we got dad’s tumor free remission news, and I just wanted to take a minute to celebrate that with you because it’s still a pretty big deal.
Earlier this evening, dad called me with his scan results, but he let mom tell me the news-
Dad is in remission!
Stage 4 bladder cancer spread to kidney and lungs, for which there is no cure, according to his oncologist, was put into remission in 4 months. Dad’s treatment plan included dietary changes, supplements, and chemotherapy. When he spoke with me today, dad assured me that all of the research I have done, which influenced the dietary changes that were made, contributed to his healing, and he encouraged me to keep going with what I’m doing here. My own determination to heal from the effects of long covid played a part in the cancer research I did for my dad. It set the stage. In the circles I hang out in, we call this kind of thing a redemptive reversal.
I am so happy to have been given this extension of dad’s life and the time he has been given to spend with us.
I also wanted to share a great and very well balanced article with you, Oncology 2.0: A New Approach to Prevention and Treatment of Cancer, written by Daniel Flora, MD, PharmD on his Substack, Curative - Rethinking Cancer Care | Daniel Flora, MD, PharmD | Substack because it seems like too many of our loved ones are being diagnosed with cancer, some are facing the management of cancer as a chronic illness for the first time in their lives, and some are needing to learn more about living an abundant life as a cancer patient. Dr. Flora sees cancer as “a Disease of Metabolism, Immunity, and the Host Microenvironment” which in turn influences cancer prevention and treatment.
Instead of seeing cancer as one rogue cell gone bad, we need to think of it as a systemic failure—a breakdown in the delicate balance between genes, metabolism, immunity, the microenvironment, and the microbiome………Cancer does not develop in isolation. It grows in an environment shaped by metabolism, immune function, and lifestyle factors. By making informed, research-backed dietary changes, we may be able to reduce cancer risk, support better treatment outcomes, and improve overall health in the process.

I hope you will take a minute to look at Dr. Flora’s work and find it helpful.

In other fun news, Spring is coming! The days are getting longer, and the Johnny Jump Ups which remind me of mom are blooming in the strawberry transplants I brought home from her back yard in my luggage last summer. Volunteer seedlings are the best kind of garden surprises.
In my next newsletter, I plan on writing about vagus nerve stimulation for things like the autoimmune phase of long COVID (and other similar conditions). I’ll leave you with a bit of a sneak peek article link for that. This is looking like a promising way to calm autoimmune inflammation-

Why have you not thought of keeping your dad under some repurposed medicinal care - kind of maintenance care - so that his remission status continues to last and he remains cancer free for the rest of his years ? Dr. Justus Hope’s work on cancer care, consolidating all the successful repurposing work done so far - ivermectin, fenbendazole, doxycycline, Curcumin, Sulforaphane, Metformin, cimetidine, metaprolol, reserverstol, and a few of them …..the recent theory being the elimination and stopping the work of cancer stem cells (CSM), the root cause for relapses. I am afraid the total reliance only on adjuvants and supplements to hold the remission is a bit fraught. Clinical support appears crucial. Meantime, my sincere prayers for his continuing welfare.
