Psalms 102:17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
My own healing journey began with prayer, which is why I’ve included it here, as a part of the Leaving Death in the Dust Newsletter.
In the Summer of 2022 after suffering for nearly 10 months following a third round of COVID that wasn’t getting better and only getting worse, I asked Jesus to show me everything I needed to be healed, and He began to show me, little by little.
Shortly after my prayer request, I began stumbling upon the resources I needed to heal from my long COVID symptoms- Wilson’s Temperature Syndrome, post-viral chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. As an added bonus, my battered spirit was also healed which resulted in an outpouring of Joy in my soul and emotional peace, which was also felt in my physical body, the beginning of the binding up of wounds.
I wasn’t looking for a miracle when I prayed. I was simply putting myself and my trust in the hands of my primary care provider, The Great Physician, Jesus Christ. What I received was an affirmation that The Lord was with me and a very personal lesson on what it really means to truly know Him.
The mini-revival I experienced for about a month in the fall of 2022 came to an abrupt end when my dad called me early one November morning to tell me he had stage 4 cancer, spread to his lungs, and that it was going to be about 6 weeks before biopsies, an appointment with an oncologist, and a definitive diagnosis of what specific kind of cancer it was, would be made. That also meant it would be even longer before treatment would begin. During this call, he also invited me to be the researcher on his kick cancer in the pants team because it was through doing my own research that I learned how to improve my own health after post-viral fatigue syndrome kicked me in the pants.
None of us were really excited about waiting that long for any of this to take place. The next morning after that phone call from my dad, in which he told us we were going to stay positive, I turned on the interwebs while my husband drank his coffee and I enjoyed my green tea.
The first video to pop up in my recommended watch list was about a man named Tenenbaum who was told he had stage 4 prostate cancer in 2018 and was sent home to die, but he wasn’t ready to die, so he learned everything he could about beating his doctor’s death diagnosis, wrote his own cancer protocol, healed his cancer, left death in the dust (for now), and is still alive at the time of this writing.
What really struck me about all of this was the focus in his protocol on inhibiting SCOT.
These 2 key words, SCOT and Tenenbaum and their respective associations with our particular situation during the Christmas season caught my attention and gave me Hope. Hope that we would not have to sit around for the next 6 weeks wringing our hands and doing nothing, except swim around in fearful thoughts, while we waited for the healthcare system to work.
I prayed, a lot. I bought Tenenbaum’s book and did additional research based on resources I had already found during my own search for healing answers from long-covid, and mom began helping dad implement the supplement and dietary changes needed to help remove the cancer cells from dad’s body.
Dad was not able to do everything Tenenbaum did, but by Thanksgiving, his labored breathing was clearing up, his energy levels were improving, he was feeling much better, and he was on his way to coming up with his own health care protocol.
The positive effects dad experienced from the prayer, supplements, and dietary changes, were achieved within a time frame of about 2 weeks (before chemo was started). If you’re a hopeful skeptic like me, I know what you might be thinking, but there’s evidence that our cells can hear our thoughts, so you might want to be mindful of them.
Praise God for providing all of the items in the healing recipe that helped remove ALL of the tumors from dad’s bladder tubules, kidney, and lungs in 4 very long, but short months!
Sometimes the healthcare system just can’t do everything we want or expect it to. I think it took a long illness and the chaos of the COVID pandemic to remind me- as wonderful as modern medicine and science are, they are not perfect and can’t quite guarantee us everything we would like them to. Looking to the healthcare system first and foremost has become almost automatic for too many of us. Don’t let it take God’s place as first and foremost in our lives. Pray first.
Talking to The Great Physician has brought me through many of life’s difficult trials. Jesus said we would have them, but He also said He would be with us through them.
Praying in difficult times can be hard for me, especially when I start to feel tied up in knots inside and begin focusing too much on my problems, instead of keeping my eyes fixed on Christ when the storm clouds rage, but I think prayer is the most important ingredient in the healing recipe because putting our trust in the hands the all knowing and infallible physician who knows us better than anyone else and wants us to live abundant lives, is one of the best things we can do for ourselves.
