It has been a cold couple of weeks. A cold couple of weeks that followed the kind of false spring that had me cultivating soil and planting seeds that sprouted and are now sitting on hold under layers of cover that I’m hoping protected them from what Mr. Freeze has been doing out there. I honestly thought I was done with the winter Toddy series, but here I am trying to keep myself warm and soothe a stomach that has been blown up by a bug that has been going around. The stomach bug was caught while The Chicken Whisperer (my husband) and I were enjoying our Christmas gift, a cozy cottage getaway over Valentine’s weekend that our children gave to us. In hindsight what we should have done was packed a cooler to eat from, but we rolled the dice, ate out, and lost the stomach bug gamble. If the stomach bug is going around and you choose to dine somewhere besides your own kitchen, I’m pretty sure the stomach bug odds will not be in your favor. I don’t think there are any scientific studies I can point you to on this though, so how you choose to roll the dice may end up being a crap shoot. At this point, all I can say for sure is that I won’t need to be spending any money on the benefits of colonic hydrotherapy anytime in the near future.
Last night I was still feeling a bit nauseous and as if what I tried to eat for supper was having trouble being digested. For some reason the song, Pass Me Not popped into my head, so I decided to give it a listen. When the video for the song stopped playing, an ad came on that started to remind me about things like the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar and cinnamon which got me wondering if my viral induced stomach discomfort was due to low stomach acid and bile duct problems. When I went to ask grandma internet about it, I stumbled across a recipe that I tweaked. I whipped it up at 2am and drank it down. I’m happy to report that it resolved my stomach discomfort, and I was able to go back to sleep. I’ll also be sharing a few of the additional vinegar/cinnamon health benefits with you and a vitamin D related cold question for the curious among us. And for those of you who’ve ever wondered if the cold can be of any benefit to you, I’ll present some ways in which it can. The recipe is as follows:
