Time goes by pretty fast, even if you’re not keeping track of it. I have not written here since the end of July which was shortly after I got the C word again, just when I was feeling very good and functioning very well, once again which is beginning to feel like C word ground hog day. Reading and writing when your brain is on fire is a bit of a struggle. If this is you and your brain is on fire, I hope someone who loves you might take the time to read this, and other things, to you. Those of you who know what I’m talking about know what brain fire feels like, the rest of you can be thankful that you don’t know the feeling. This year’s summer C word variants have hit my nervous system pretty hard which means that I’m back in the mode of slowing my day to day living down to a manageable for me level. I did get to go home and visit (and hug) my walking miracle of a dad in August which was difficult, but worth it.

My body has paid a health price for traveling, but I have also managed to gain some insight into Long Covid Dysautonomia due to a visit with my mom’s chiropractor who has some extra training in neurological health conditions. This has pointed me down the path of seeking acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine for treatment (primarily because the same kind of chiropractic care that my mom’s chiro offers is not available where I live). I am very thankful for the care Dr. Wilson gave me while I was home visiting my family which made it possible for me to be able to travel back home again (to where I currently live) after a very painful flare up of my lower back happened. There are some good articles backing up the success of acupuncture in treating dysautonomia and long covid so I am confident it will be helpful. As I write this, I have already had 4 treatments and I am already seeing improvements in my condition. I am also thankful for the care that Dr. Ly has given me, and I have learned that acupuncture can also be helpful for cancer patients. I will be reporting more on my acupuncture experience over on my long covid subsection in the days ahead. What is even more interesting is that I found another common link between long covid and cancer which is Dysautonomia. To make a big word short, dysautonomia is the dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system. Chemo Brain and Dysautonomia is a thing that some cancer patients get while Brain Fog and Dysautonomia is a very similar thing that some people with long covid get. But there is hope for this condition and you can learn more about it and what can be done about it by clicking on this link:

You’re probably wondering what all of this has to do with the title of this newsletter, but it’s all tied together, so here’s the rest of the story-

As you know, we like to feature hopeful healing stories here at Leaving Death in the Dust and we have talked quite a bit about how going on a Mediterranean style diet is one of the things my dad did to help him kick stage 4 cancer into remission over a period of 4 months. If you’re new here, I highly recommend learning more about us and our stories which can be done by clicking here-

Welcome Survivors! - by Stephanie Schaible (substack.com)

I recently stumbled across another story about a man who healed from cancer by implementing what I’m calling a Mediterranean Lifestyle. I stumbled upon his story as I was learning more about Traditional Chinese Medicine and the treatments I have been receiving. I am going to post the links to his story and the video story of the Greek island he returned home to below. I would like to encourage you to check his story out because it’s worth your time and consideration. There is also a bonus link to a cookbook from the Greek island he returned home to. These links will be provided for paid subscribers. The rest of you can ask Grandma Interwebs for the scoop on how Stamatis Moraitis of Boynton Beach, Florida returned to Greece and healed from “terminal” cancer without seeking aggressive medical treatments and then lived a long happy, healed, and cancer free life which we are not suggesting that you do because, we don’t make recommendations-

*Leaving Death in the Dust is a newsletter and is not a replacement for professional, regulated, medical, healthcare. It is informational and educational. Some of us in this community may have worked in the healthcare system, but we are not your medical provider and whatever you find here is not the establishment of a professional medical relationship or medical advice.

Hope is the beginning of healing and Leaving Death in the Dust was created to help beautiful human beings, who are sick, tired, and metabolically bankrupt, become more actively involved in their own health care.

Wishing you peace, happiness, HOPE, and a life lived abundantly,

Stephanie
