It has been a while since I have shared our latest recipes with you. I usually provide some other news updates with our Nourishment Newsletters, but because I have been feeling better and publishing more frequently, I will simply refer you to our Home Page to take a look at any of the latest news that you may have missed.
I’m going to start with a Julia thought because I’ve been watching Julia on Max and LOVING it. Not only do you get to see a bunch of aging actors being blasted back from the past, but the show is also really good and has inspired my hubby to master the Julia French omelet which is super fun to make and delicious too!

Here’s the list of some of our latest favorite recipe finds. I’ve been on a 5-week gluten fast and have really enjoyed the buckwheat pancakes topped with my blueberry preserves or unsweet applesauce. Mom contributed a couple of recipes. I’ve not tried the oatmeal recipe yet because I’m also off of that for a while, but the turkey sweet potato skillet was super yummy!

Notes for adjusting recipes as needed-
Omit refined white sugar and use other sugars sparingly (honey, coconut sugar, monk fruit, unsweetened applesauce or other lower glycemic index sugar of your choice) because cancer feeds on sugar p.s. honey has anti-cancer properties.
Eliminate cheese or use it sparingly.
Buy organic when possible.
Use organic frozen corn, sparingly.
Substitute cornstarch with arrowroot powder.
Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Avocado Oil, or Coconut Oil.
Use freshly ground or whole grains that have been soaked or sprouted. Limit wheat.
Use pasta made from chickpeas, red lentils, or other veggies. I like the red lentil pasta better than the chickpea, but it occurred to me that pouring my favorite red wine spaghetti sauce over some actual lentils that have not been turned into a noodle might be something good to try.
Limit red meat. Eat good quality turkey and chicken like one from Springer Mountain Farms or find something else local to you.
There will be a bonus recipe at the end of this newsletter for our generous PAID subscribing supporters. This is one of my own recipes. I sometimes make “recipes” up on the fly by simply using things that I have on hand which I call mish mash. Tonight’s on the fly meal for Ground Turkey Mish Mash was a hit!
bon appétit!
Substack Re-stack
Living a fast-paced, busy life can sometimes cause us to forget that food is more than something to fill our bellies with, it is nourishment that is used to support every bit of us, especially our mitochondria. I’ve heard that Julia Child thought that America’s overeating problems were rooted in being vaguely hungry after eating packaged, nutritionally bankrupt, processed, and fast foods. When we learned that diet could be used to help dad fight his cancer, mom hit the interwebs looking for new recipes to help dad heal his body, and he has absolutely loved what she has been feeding him. He has been on a Mediterranean style diet (no alcohol), and every time I talked with him over the past 4 months of chemo cancer hell, he raved about whatever she had made for him to eat and told me all about how good the food was. Once your taste buds get acclimated to eating this way, you won’t want to go back……..
